An observational study in Multiple Sclerosis and Gait Disorders, Neurologic, sponsored by Assiut University. Not yet recruiting. Open to participants aged 18 Years to 55 Years. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-09-29.
Sponsored by Assiut University · Observational
This cross-sectional study aims to assess the pattern of gait in patients with multiple sclerosis and to evaluate its relation to cognitive function, visual evoked potentials, and radiological findings.
Gait impairment is a common and disabling feature of multiple sclerosis. This observational study will include patients with confirmed multiple sclerosis according to the revised McDonald criteria who are clinically stable.
Participants will undergo quantitative gait analysis, cognitive assessment, visual evoked potential testing, and review of MRI findings in a single assessment visit.
Patients with multiple sclerosis attending the Neurology Department outpatient clinic and gait laboratory at Assiut University.
Exclusion Criteria:
Patients with confirmed multiple sclerosis who will undergo gait analysis, cognitive testing, visual evoked potential assessment, and MRI review in a single visit.
Mean gait velocity
Mean gait velocity in meters per second measured by quantitative spatiotemporal gait analysis.
Time frame: Baseline
Mean cadence
Mean cadence in steps per minute measured by quantitative gait analysis.
Time frame: Baseline
Mean stride length
Mean stride length in centimeters measured by quantitative gait analysis.
Time frame: Baseline
Mean MoCA score
Mean Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score (range 0-30, higher scores indicate better cognition).
Time frame: Baseline
Mean P100 latency
Mean P100 latency in milliseconds measured by pattern-reversal visual evoked potentials.
Time frame: Baseline
Mean EDSS score
Mean Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score.
