An interventional study of Conventional Physiotherapy and Visual Rehabilitation in Knee Osteoarthritis, Visual Rehabilitation and Vestibular Rehabilitation, sponsored by Istanbul Aydın University. Not yet recruiting at 2 sites in Turkey (Türkiye). Open to participants aged 40 Years to 65 Years. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-10-22.
Sponsored by Istanbul Aydın University · Not applicable, Interventional, and Treatment
This study aims to investigate the effects of visual rehabilitation and vestibular rehabilitation added to conventional physiotherapy on postural stability, pain, and functional status in individuals with knee osteoarthritis. Participants will be randomly assigned to three groups: conventional physiotherapy, conventional physiotherapy combined with visual rehabilitation, or conventional physiotherapy combined with vestibular rehabilitation. The study will evaluate changes in balance, pain, and functional performance before and after the intervention.
3,391 studies on the registry are indexed under Osteoarthritis, Knee; 628 are open to participants now.
This study's planned enrollment of 42 is below the median of 69 across 2,808 interventional studies indexed under Osteoarthritis, Knee.

Participants in this arm will receive conventional physiotherapy, including transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), cold pack application, patellar mobilization, quadriceps isometric exercises, progressive resistance exercises, straight leg raises, and hamstring and gastrocnemius stretching.
Behavioral: Conventional Physiotherapy
Participants in this arm will receive conventional physiotherapy combined with peripheral vision-focused visual rehabilitation.
Behavioral: Conventional Physiotherapy · Behavioral: Visual Rehabilitation
Participants in this arm will receive conventional physiotherapy combined with vestibular rehabilitation involving standardized rhythmic head movements.
Behavioral: Conventional Physiotherapy · Behavioral: Vestibular Rehabilitation
Participants will receive conventional physiotherapy consisting of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), cold pack application, grade I-II patellar mobilization, quadriceps isometric exercises, progressive resistance exercises, straight leg raises, and static hamstring and gastrocnemius stretching. The intervention will be provided three times per week for six weeks, with a total of 18 sessions.
Participants will receive conventional physiotherapy combined with peripheral vision-focused visual rehabilitation. Visual rehabilitation will involve peripheral visual stimuli presented using the Smart Optometry Pro application while participants maintain central fixation and respond to the stimuli with motor actions. The intervention will be provided for 20 minutes per session, three times per week for six weeks, for a total of 18 sessions.
Participants will receive conventional physiotherapy combined with vestibular rehabilitation involving standardized rhythmic head movements. Head movements will be performed in right-left and anterior-posterior directions at a standardized rhythm using a metronome application. The intervention will be provided for 20 minutes per session, three times per week for six weeks, for a total of 18 sessions.
Postural Stability
Postural stability will be assessed using the Ottometriks Balance Platform. Center of pressure (COP) displacement and postural sway in the anteroposterior and mediolateral directions will be evaluated.
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Pain Intensity
Pain intensity will be assessed using the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire (SF-MPQ).
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
WOMAC
Functional status will be assessed using the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC).
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Timed Up and Go Test (TUG)
Functional mobility will be assessed using the Timed Up and Go Test (TUG).
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Y Balance Test
Dynamic balance will be assessed using the Y Balance Test.
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Berg Balance Scale (BBS)
Balance performance will be assessed using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS).
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention
Peripheral Vision
Peripheral vision will be assessed using the standardized photo-based assessment method specified in the study protocol.
Time frame: At baseline and immediately after the 6-week intervention

Start is estimated for Oct 2026; primary completion for Oct 2026, 0 months later.
Of 1,143 non-industry interventional studies with no phase under Osteoarthritis, Knee, half reached primary completion within 18 months of starting (the median), counting those still running; a quarter within 8 and three quarters within 36. This study's planned 0 months is below that.
Counting every sponsor, half of 1,285 studies reached it within 18 months; a quarter within 8 and three quarters within 36.
