Study summary

This study aims to determine whether dynamic arterial elastance (EaDyn), measured after anesthesia induction, can predict the need for vasopressor treatment in patients undergoing elective on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery. EaDyn will be calculated from pulse pressure variation and stroke volume variation. Hemodynamic measurements will be recorded before anesthesia induction and at 1, 3, and 5 minutes after induction. The study is prospective and observational, and no additional intervention will be performed as part of the study.

Study population

Adults aged 18-80 years undergoing elective on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery at Gaziantep University Hospital who meet the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Patients will undergo routine anesthesia and surgical management. Hemodynamic parameters will be recorded before anesthesia induction and at 1, 3, and 5 minutes after induction, and vasopressor use will be documented.

Go through the criteria one by one — yes, no or not sure — and take the list to your doctor or the study team. Kept in this browser only.

Inclusion criteria

  1. Age ≥18 years.
  2. Patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (on-pump).
  3. Patients with arterial catheter monitoring.
  4. Patients receiving mechanical ventilation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion Criteria:

  1. Arrhythmia (e.g., atrial fibrillation).
  2. Severe aortic regurgitation.
  3. Spontaneous breathing.
  4. Low tidal volume.
  5. Emergency surgery.
  6. Off-pump cardiac surgery (cardiac surgery performed without cardiopulmonary bypass).

Groups and cohorts

  • Elective On-Pump CABG Cohort

Adults aged 18-80 years undergoing elective on-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery who meet the study eligibility criteria. Hemodynamic parameters will be recorded before and after anesthesia induction, and vasopressor use will be documented.

    Other: No intervention

Interventions

  • OtherNo intervention

This is an observational study. No study-specific intervention is assigned to participants. Anesthesia and surgical management will be performed according to routine clinical practice.

What researchers measure

Primary outcomes

  1. Vasopressor Requirement Within 5 Minutes After Anesthesia Induction

Requirement for administration of any vasopressor after anesthesia induction, recorded as a binary outcome (yes/no). Vasopressor use will be assessed during the post-induction hemodynamic assessment period.

Time frame: From anesthesia induction to 5 minutes after induction

1 registry update since Sep 25, 2026
ElapsedEstimatedEstimated, not yet reachedSimilar studies: half by the dot; the band is the middle halfHalf of similar studies reached it by the dot; the band is the middle half, from a quarter to three quarters

Started Oct 2026 (actual). Primary completion is estimated for Apr 2027, 6 months after the start.

Of 726 non-industry observational studies under Coronary Artery Disease, half reached primary completion within 48 months of starting (the median), counting those still running; a quarter within 23 and three quarters within 122. This study's planned 6 months is below that.

Counting every sponsor, half of 857 studies reached it within 43 months; a quarter within 22 and three quarters within 88.

How these figures are worked out, and which studies are left out of them.

What these dates mean
Start.
When the first participant enrolled; while estimated, when the study expects to open to recruitment.
Primary completion.
When the last participant was examined or treated to collect data for the study's main question, its primary outcome. A study that stopped early gives the date its data collection stopped.
Completion.
When the last participant's last visit took place, for every outcome, secondary ones and side effects included: the end of the study. Often later than primary completion, sometimes the same day.
Actual and Est.
Actual means the registry says the date has happened. Est. (estimated) is a date the sponsor plans or expects. It can still move, and the sponsor is expected to change it to actual once it has passed.
