An observational study in Evaluate the Anatomical Variations of the Palatal Canal in Maxillary Permanent Molars Using CBCT, sponsored by Tanta University. Not yet recruiting at 1 site in Egypt. Open to participants aged 8 Years to 25 Years. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-10-13.
Sponsored by Tanta University · Observational
the current study will be directed to evaluate the anatomical variations of the palatal canal in maxillary permanent molars using CBCT
The study will be conducted as a retrospective study. CBCT on maxillary permanent molars will be obtained from a group of patients who need CBCT for orthodontic, endodontic, or surgical issues. A total of one hundred patients aged between 8 and 25 years will be included. Canal configuration, number of canals, curvature, apical anatomy, and presence of accessory canals will be assessed in axial, sagittal, and coronal planes.
Tanta University is the lead sponsor of 991 studies on the registry; 316 are open to participants now.
Of its 16 completed or terminated interventional studies of FDA-regulated products, 0 (0%) have results posted.

CBCT scans of patients 8-25 years. Palatal root completely visible from the cervical region to the apex. Adequate CBCT image quality. No significant artifacts obscuring the palatal root/canal.
Exclusion Criteria:
Previous root canal treatment. Extensive root resorption. Root fracture. Periapical surgery involving the palatal root. Extensive restorations producing severe artifacts. Developmental anomalies that prevent reliable assessment
determine the prevalence of anatomical variations of the palatal root canal in maxillary permanent first molars in a group of the Egyptian population classify palatal canal configurations according to Vertucci's classification and/or a more comprehensive canal morphology classification.
