An observational study in Perceived Barriers to Exercise, sponsored by Istinye University. Not yet recruiting. Open to participants aged 18 Years to 65 Years, including healthy volunteers. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-10-21.
Sponsored by Istinye University · Observational
The purpose of this study is to culturally adapt the Perceived Barriers to Exercise Questionnaire (PBEQ) into Turkish and evaluate its psychometric properties among office workers in Türkiye. The study will use a methodological, cross-sectional design and aims to recruit 300 adults aged 18-64 years who work primarily in a seated, desk-based position.
The adaptation process will include forward translation, synthesis, back-translation, expert panel review, and pilot testing. The Turkish version of the questionnaire will then be evaluated for content validity, structural validity, internal consistency, test-retest reliability, measurement error, and hypothesis-based construct validity. Participants will also complete the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form and the Exercise Benefits/Barriers Scale to assess predefined validity hypotheses.
For test-retest reliability, a subgroup of participants will complete the questionnaire for a second time 10-14 days after the initial assessment. The findings will provide evidence regarding the measurement properties of the Turkish version of the PBEQ for assessing perceived barriers to exercise among office workers.
