An observational study in Thrombocytopenia and Neonatal Thrombocytopenia, sponsored by Assiut University. Not yet recruiting. Open to participants aged Up to 28 Days. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-10-20.
Sponsored by Assiut University · Observational
This prospective cohort study aims to determine the frequency, severity, and clinical outcome of thrombocytopenia among neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit.
Thrombocytopenia is a common hematological abnormality in neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit. It may range from mild laboratory finding to severe disease with hemorrhagic complications.
This observational study will evaluate neonates with platelet count less than 150 × 10⁹/L admitted to the NICU to describe the frequency of different severity grades, timing of onset, and clinical outcomes including hemorrhagic complications and mortality.
703 studies on the registry are indexed under Thrombocytopenia; 150 are open to participants now.
This study's planned enrollment of 120 is close to the median of 120 across 186 observational studies indexed under Thrombocytopenia.

Start is estimated for Oct 2026; primary completion for Oct 2027, 12 months later.
Of 54 non-industry observational studies under Thrombocytopenia, half reached primary completion within 36 months of starting (the median), counting those still running; a quarter within 20 and three quarters within 120. This study's planned 12 months is below that.
Counting every sponsor, half of 58 studies reached it within 36 months; a quarter within 16 and three quarters within 56.
