An interventional study of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment in Pitch, Baseball Pitcher and Throwing Performance, sponsored by William Carey University. Not yet recruiting. Open to male participants aged 18 Years and older, including healthy volunteers. Per ClinicalTrials.gov, last updated 2026-10-16.
Sponsored by William Carey University · Not applicable, Interventional, and Prevention
To investigate the impact of manual medicine on key aspects of the kinetic chain on measures of performance in collegiate baseball players.
An OMT protocol which targets the hips, diaphragm, and throwing shoulder will be investigated for improvement to pitch metrics of the fastball in the experimental group compared with the control group. OMT protocol is expected to increase the active ranges of motion of the throwing shoulder and the bilateral hips of those in the experimental group compared to the control group. Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic Shoulder and Elbow Score (KJOC-SES) will also improve in the experimental group compared to control. Injury rates are expected to decrease in the treatment group compared to control.
117 studies on the registry are indexed under Shoulder Injuries; 31 are open to participants now.
This study's planned enrollment of 15 is below the median of 53 across 66 interventional studies indexed under Shoulder Injuries.
