Study summary

Patients of both gender groups with unilateral shoulder pain will be selected with age range 40-60 years from Sehat medical complex and randomly allocated into four groups (Group A, B, C and D) in Trial. The sample size will be 60 patients. Musculoskeletal ultrasound, goniometry, pain pressure threshold, dynamometer and functional indices will be used to measure the tendon thickness, range of motion, pain, muscle strength and function level.

Read the detailed description

Supraspinatus will be evaluated for the combined effect of blood flow restriction therapy (BFRT) and Shock wave Therapy in Group C in comparison to BFRT alone in Group A, Eccenteric Training alone in Group B and routine physical therapy in Group D (Control Group).

What researchers measure

Primary outcomes

  1. MSK Ultrasound

Supraspinatus Tendon thickness in long and short axis, These will be measureed in mili meter (mm) on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound with modified Crass psotion.

Time frame: 12 weeks (Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

  2. Shoulder pain

Numeric Pain Rating Scale for Pain, (0-10 unit scale, 0 mean NO Pain and 10 means imaginable worset pain)

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

  3. Shoulder Joint ROM

ROM measurement with Goniometer (Universal 360 degree and bubble goniometer will be used

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

Secondary outcomes

  1. Shoulder Joint function and disability

shoulder joint function and disability will be measured by Disability of arm, shoulder and hand sclae (Quick DASH) 0-100 0 means maximum function a person can perform, 100 means worst imaginable condition of disability. The Shoulder pain and Disability index (SPADI) scale is used to measre the pain and disability in shoulder conditions, scale range 0-100, 0 means maximum functionality and 100 means imagunable disability or worset condition.

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

  2. Shoulder Muscle Strength

1 Repetition Maximum of shoulder Abduction will be measure by Epleys method.

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

  3. Peripher pain sensitization

Pain pressure algometry will be used, The clinician places the tip of teh instrument perpendicular to the targeted muscle, and tendon and applies a steady, continuous increase in pressure (usually at a rate of 1 kg/cm² per second). the values will be measure in lb persecond or Newton.

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

  4. Shoulder Joint strength

Shoulder muscle strength measure through Hand Held Dynamometer, the instrumnet will measure the isomatric force of shoulder muscle in abduction, external rotation and internal rotation in Newton or Kilogram force.

Time frame: 12 weeks (data will be collected at Baseline, 4 weeks, 8 Weeks, and 12 Weeks)

What these dates mean
Start.
When the first participant enrolled; while estimated, when the study expects to open to recruitment.
Primary completion.
When the last participant was examined or treated to collect data for the study's main question, its primary outcome. A study that stopped early gives the date its data collection stopped.
Completion.
When the last participant's last visit took place, for every outcome, secondary ones and side effects included: the end of the study. Often later than primary completion, sometimes the same day.
Actual and Est.
Actual means the registry says the date has happened. Est. (estimated) is a date the sponsor plans or expects. It can still move, and the sponsor is expected to change it to actual once it has passed.
